Snow

Went out to shoot a few at the park after church, its hard to beat the quiet stillness of the snow covered park.

It's not a party without orange fluff

And it isn't Thanksgiving without the pumpkin pie.

At least that is what my nephew thinks. We always have orange fluff at every party. And if we don't he is sorely disappointed.

Chicken Portraits and gas prices

Chickens don't really take glamorous portraits, not that I find that surprising, but they are a lot like shooting toddlers, they are moving subjects. Out of 10 shots or the various girls we have, only this one came out. Barely. But isn't she cute? She should lay easter eggs. Blue or green tinted.Hoping this will last.

past

These grow out my back door, spring onion or chives or something. I never have figured out exactly what they are. But they pop up and bloom a pretty white flower, and like many of the bulbs around here they where a pleasant surprise the first year they bloomed.

isn't she lovely...

I have better shots of this nag. but this one is how I see her everyday, waiting for me at the fence to bring out the food. Not glamorous or striking or anything. Not to mention she is badly in need of me to pull the burs off of her. Nice forelock, she reminds me of Lucy Ricardo when her forelock is all curled up with cockleburs. But I like this time of year because the horses are waiting on pins and needles to get fed, watered , or thrown hay. And they are so much happier to see me once it gets cold. It makes it worth it to haul my butt out in the freezing cold to feed and check on them.

cold water

Filling the water for the beasties. decided to click off a few water shots, overflowed the bucked.

sloth

How I spent my Saturday. Notice the favorite jammies, the un-manicured feet, and the pink polish that is half gone. If you look even closer you will see the cough drop wrapper a kid left and the hole in the arm of the couch, where a kid experimented with scissors.

Chopped.

Left the house at 11:30 looking like this....returned at 3:00 looking like this.

Self portraits in the bathroom are better at 4:30 than at 11, and I am delighted to already know the reason without having to ask anyone. It proves that I have learned something!!

natures ribbons and another silhouette

The first silhouette was taken on a grey day this one on cloudless day, I wanted to compare the difference. there isn't much really. On my way to take the silhouette I noticed this one stalk of grass had very curly blades. Looked like streamers to me, or ticker tape.

Early and Late

Taken early one of the first I took today.

Taken late one of the last I took today.

Caught up, finally...

Snapped a few today. This is not what I got out of the car to shoot, I saw them when I was getting back in. I loved the silhouette they made.

An all day affair.

I cleaned in the living room on Saturday. I'm a terrible packrat,k so the place gets cluttery really quick. and the carpet hides under the stuff... I unearthed it. and here is the proof....

kid in the box

Hubby put tool boxes on the trailer this weekend, and the boys helped as only they can.

another cheat..

one from the day before and one from the day after.

I would have sworn I took the oil puddle shot on the 13th.. but it was the morning of the 14th.. I've been tired and confused for the last week.. and the cold that was stalking me finally caught me..This is a friends little boy in his Mexican fiesta outfit. Taken on the 12th when the kids had their party.

I'm a stalker...

I have more photos of this wall than I really should have. It is in the alley of my favorite coffee place. If I can afford to get a coffee I enjoy my time in the drive thru looking at the old Pillsbury sign. I love the riot of colors on the bricks. One day I sat across the street and shot pictures as people used the drive thru.. boy did I get some looks that day.

I'm cheating...

I did not take this photo today. I took it yesterday morning, when there was frost on my car windows. But... today was wet cold dreary and sunless. The neighbor came over and we watched horsey movies. I think the frosted glass is appropriate to post on such a day.

the old men

One of the things I love about our property is the age of the place. The house was built in the 1850's and we have 4 pine trees in the front yard that tower over the house. The old men. I cannot imagine what changes they have witnessed and I with they would tell me their stories.

popsicles in the wind

Went to church chicken dinner today, and they gave the kids each a popsicle. They had to wear their coats because they where so cold eating them!!

ran out of time

Saturday was lazy lay about kind of day. Until I went for a girls night out. It doesn't happen very ofter that a girls night out doesn't coincide with a hot load broken truck, or some other lack of a husband home to watch the kids.

When I got home I realized I had not taken a picture all day, so I grabbed the camera. That single act netted me this look, and made me giggle so hard that I could not focus. Nice picture, eh?

sugar high

I try to save my sugar intake for chocolate, but I cant resist a small binge on smarties once a year at Halloween.

harvest

And yes, I have not been getting these up until the day after, but I have been taking them on teh right days.

dripping fire

Photos just don't do this tree justice, the top was bare and the bulk of the tree was bright gold, and the fire red was dripping off the bottom. this is the best picture I could get in the wind, and it still lacks the impact the tree really had.

old bag

This is the only shot I took yesterday. I was so tired. All day. Rather than take a nice well thought out shot, I took a shot that is telling about me. I buy reusable grocery bags. I do this partly for environmentally conscious reasons. But I also do it for some self preservation. I cant stand to have all those plastic bags around.. they blow through the house like tumbleweeds on the desert. And they can be handy, but I think I already have a lifetime supply of the stupid things. I have a few canvas bags and then a multitude of the other type, and I'm pretty happy with my choice.

more color

Hopped out the car to snap these... unlike the kids, hubby is not usually treated to the photo tour type of errand running I tend to do. Can you tell? He didn't even roll down the window....

the return.

Paco and Ginger, who belong to my neighbor, have moved back onto our place for the winter. This is Ginger, or rather her eye, she has a sweet kind motherly eye. And try as I might I tried to get a picture without that turquoise trailer behind her.. and you know what? Its the one I like the best. Go figure.
