this morning
Unlike yesterday, this morning dawned bright and colorful, the temp was lovely and the sun was happy. But it was all down hill from there. The sky closed up and tossed a few inches of snow on us and the wind blew it across our ever drifting road.

Chicken Portraits and gas prices
Chickens don't really take glamorous portraits, not that I find that surprising, but they are a lot like shooting toddlers, they are moving subjects. Out of 10 shots or the various girls we have, only this one came out. Barely. But isn't she cute? She should lay easter eggs. Blue or green tinted.
Hoping this will last.

past

These grow out my back door, spring onion or chives or something. I never have figured out exactly what they are. But they pop up and bloom a pretty white flower, and like many of the bulbs around here they where a pleasant surprise the first year they bloomed.
isn't she lovely...

I have better shots of this nag. but this one is how I see her everyday, waiting for me at the fence to bring out the food. Not glamorous or striking or anything. Not to mention she is badly in need of me to pull the burs off of her. Nice forelock, she reminds me of Lucy Ricardo when her forelock is all curled up with cockleburs. But I like this time of year because the horses are waiting on pins and needles to get fed, watered , or thrown hay. And they are so much happier to see me once it gets cold. It makes it worth it to haul my butt out in the freezing cold to feed and check on them.

the old men

One of the things I love about our property is the age of the place. The house was built in the 1850's and we have 4 pine trees in the front yard that tower over the house. The old men. I cannot imagine what changes they have witnessed and I with they would tell me their stories.
